CD117 (c-KIT) is a pivotal receptor tyrosine kinase primarily activated by its ligand, Stem Cell Factor (SCF). Its expression is essential in hematopoietic stem cells, mast cells, melanocytes, and interstitial cells of Cajal, underpinning fundamental processes in hematopoiesis, pigment cell development, and gastrointestinal motility.
