IL-7 (Interleukin-7) is a crucial homeostatic cytokine primarily produced by stromal cells in bone marrow, thymus, and lymphoid tissues. It signals through the IL-7 receptor complex, composed of the IL-7Rα chain (CD127) and the common gamma chain (γc), to regulate lymphocyte development, survival, and homeostasis. IL-7 is essential for the maturation of B and T cells in primary lymphoid organs and for maintaining the survival and proliferation of naïve and memory T cells in peripheral tissues.
